The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal O. Olohungbebe, was the distinguished guest at the 8th Annual Mawlid Nabiyy held on 4th October, 2025, at the Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, under the leadership of Imam (Dr.) Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, the Chairman and Founder, Ashraaf Islamic Foundation.
Delivering a lecture titled “The Ummah in Today’s World: Building Resilient Faith, Family, and Community through Prophetic Values,” Dr. Olohungbebe emphasized the need for Muslims to realign with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He noted that many of the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah today stem from a gradual departure from prophetic guidance in personal and collective affairs.
The Commissioner highlighted the importance of integrating entrepreneurship and information and communication technology (ICT) into Arabic and Islamic education, stressing that such reforms would empower learners and promote sustainable development. He further underscored the need for greater investment in girls’ education, as well as the inclusion of practical, future-oriented subjects that prepare students for real-world challenges.
Dr. Olohungbebe also called for a review of the Islamic education curriculum to incorporate ICT and entrepreneurial training, thereby equipping students with the skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to society.
In his remarks, he urged participants to emulate the Prophet’s exemplary conduct in family and community life, which was marked by resilience, compassion, justice, peace, and transparency.
The event concluded with a message of appreciation from the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, expressing deep gratitude to Dr. Olohungbebe for his insightful contributions.
“From the Chairman to the executives, directorates, and members of Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable knowledge and wisdom. Jazāka llohu Khayran,” the statement read
